Smoking Cigarettes and Watching Captain Kangaroo…

So after about a week in Vegas, things are going decent. A few days ago Bobby and I went over to Scotty’s house to chill out and also to do a crew interview with a friend of mine named Rebekah who’s been working on a documentary for a couple years. It was originally called Rovin’ Gamblers but she changed it to Beyond the Felt when it got picked up for distribution on a European channel. Hopefully it’ll hit the US sometime soon. It’s kind of a lucky project for her… she started out following a good number of the known players (Phil Hellmuth, Danny Negreanu, Layne Flack, Jennifer Harmon) and took a chance on three completely unknown players… following the unknowns to see what became of them over the next couple of years. This was back in 2003, and she happened to pick me, Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Laak. Both of those guys are great characters and eat up the camera… plus they’ve soared into a level of fame that rivals any of the established players that she began with. Both of them took down a WPT event last year(in the same week), and Antonio took down a gold bracelet in 2004. He also finished pretty high in the Headsup Championship that they’re going to be showing on NBC pretty soon… I won’t spoil the ending for anyone who plans on watching it, but will say that he played against Scotty.
When we did the interview, it was pretty cool because every single member of the crew happened to be here in Vegas. Dorf, Bobby, Scott, Tony, Joey and me all in the same room. It’s been awhile since that’s happened, since we all live in different places. But now Dorf is the only one who’s not living in Vegas, so hopefully we’ll all be chilling out more together. A few of us are planning on playing in a $300 night tournament tonight (I think it’s at the Plaza). It’s awesome to live in a place where you can go play a tournament at ten o’clock at night.

I’ve been watching Bobby take down some pretty decent scores on Pokerstars. He won his WSOP seat not too long ago in a double shootout (the same day Scott one the later double shootout). And this week he won an $11 rebuy and also won a seat into the $500 NL for $15… ended up taking 78th out of 1391 for a payday of about $1400. I’ve mainly been playing on Paradise and Planet these days, but Scott is working on a new cardroom that I’ll probably play at. I’ll give some more details once I check it out.
Other than poker, just been watching some HBO and trying like mad to catch up on emails. Saw a pretty funny program the other day called Sketch Pad 2 with a pretty good skit about a US-Canadian border guard. Funny stuff…
Also, our crew agent-manager (Scott’s ultra-cool sister Beth) gave the word that she had to stop representing us today due to some conflicts, so if there are any people reading this out there that think they can get the crew some gigs (sponsorship deals, tv deals, book deals, whatever…), we’re now officially on the lookout for a new agent-manager.
(ps – The photos here are some of Gianna’s… she’s a pretty talented woman)
