Nuttin' But Stringz
So today I got turned onto what I think is the most original sound I've heard in awhile. It's a band formed by two brothers out of New York called Nuttin' But Stringz. I came across their stuff when my girlfriend Michele and I were looking at YouTube videos of this season of America's Got Talent. We had gone to some karaoke at The 'Zou and a guy sang "Walking in Memphis" and it reminded her of a clip she had seen from the show that she wanted me to see. So we watched some of the acts and we came across these guys.
I gotta say, watching their video clip completely blew me away. I guess they've already started rising in popularity... they played for the President at the White House this summer and actually won an Emmy for their performance. But I had never heard of them, and I'm guessing most of you reading this haven't either. They are in the final five for the AGT competition, and if they win they'll headline their own show in Vegas like last year's winner, ventriloquist Terry Fator. Quick sidenote... Terry Fator signed a $100 million deal with Mirage after winning AGT and is definitely deserving of his own show. He made me reexamine the art of ventriloquism, which until I saw his clips I thought was cheesy at best. His is on my short list of shows that I'm planning to see in Vegas this year.
I really, really hope America does the right thing and votes for Nuttin' But Stringz. Although everyone left has a lot of talent, these honestly are the only ones in the competition that I would actually pay to go see. Watch the clip below and you will be convinced. It's a beautiful combination of classical violin and hip-hop and I expect them to just get bigger and bigger. I bought their album on iTunes and look forward to listening to all of their tracks. They deserve all the success that is coming to them and I am proud that they represent America. Simply amazing.
