One of my old friends from STL named Lee and I got back in touch recently on MySpace. If you’ve never checked that site out, it’s cool as hell. Great way to meet cool new people and reconnect with old friends.
I used to have a little crowd in St. Louis that I used to hang out with all the time in the central west end. Haven’t seen most of them for years… but got to reconnect this weekend with a couple of them, mostly because of MySpace. I could go on and on about how great that site is, but I’ll leave it at that for now because there’s something even more important to talk about.
That’s Lee in the background without the tape over his mouth. He’s in a pretty good electronica band called Femme Fatality that he put together a few years after I left STL. I always knew I’d see Lee again, because right before I left I loaned him my hardcover copy of Doyle Brunson’s Super System… it was a $50 book at the time IF you could find it for sale. He never returned the book.
So now I’m trying to get some people to listen to his stuff on the link at the end of this paragraph and if you like it, vote for him in the STL Battle of the Bands. He’s playing against a bunch of ho-hum emo bands… I’m worried that if he loses this contest, he might be out of the music game forever and won’t ever be able to buy me a new copy of the poker bible. So please… check out their radio-friendly single, Dr. K, off of their new album “Never Had a Daddy”. It’s about drugs and the dangers of a hungry-ghost addiction… vote early and vote often. Click here to listen and vote.
And oh yeah… check out MySpace if you’re in the mood for more cowbell.
